Is this really gold filled, and not gold plated? Yes. These are genuine gold filled, not plating — a solid layer of 14K gold is mechanically bonded to a brass core under heat and pressure, and by law makes up at least 1/20th of the total metal weight. That is why gold filled resists tarnishing and wear far longer than gold plating, and why it holds its color through years of daily wear.

Why is there no stamp on the ring? At 0.64mm the wire is too fine to take a legible mark — there is no flat surface to strike one onto. That is normal for jump rings at this gauge, and it is why our larger gold filled findings, like the lobster clasps, carry a visible GF stamp while these do not. The material is the same.

What does 22 gauge mean? Gauge is the thickness of the wire the ring is formed from. At 22 gauge, or 0.64mm, these are a medium weight — strong enough to hold a pendant securely, still soft enough to open and close by hand with pliers.
